Simultaneous interpretation
Simultaneous booth interpretation is the most difficult but also the most prestigious type of interpretation.
Renowned meetings, lectures, conferences, seminars and symposia are interpreted this way. Two interpreters are required in the booth according to established standards.
The lecturer or speaker has no direct contact with the interpreter and speaks directly to the audience who hear the translation in their headphones.
Consecutive interpretation
In this type of interpretation the interpreter is among the speakers and interprets during pauses in both directions. The speakers must bear in mind that the interpreter is also present, and must converse in such a way and at such a speed that the interpreter is able to interpret each part of the dialogue and allow the other side enough time to listen to it. Consecutive interpretation is used for meetings, business negotiations, presentations and conferences which take place without booths and headphones.
